The Blues is King

That ’ s all I have to say about that! The Blues is King!

Quote of the Day

"Believe nothing, no matter where you read it or who has said it, not even if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense." Sidha rtha Gautama, the Buddha

Astrology

I was all ready to proclaim the glory of astrology. Every morning when I check my comcast-on-the-web acct there is a pulldown that has my horoscope. For the last 3 days it's had an uncanny resemblence to what was going on in my life. Well, today I decide to investigate further and going to astrology.com , the same source as the comcast blurb, I get a COMPLETELY different reading... I can't explain and I won't try but my skepticism has returned.

Music For America (MfA)

Music For America (MfA) I haven't mentioned these guys I try not to be partisan but I am completely supportive of these guys. They work really hard to get the young folk involved in the political system. Music was a huge part of the political activism of the 50s/60s and it only makes sense that it can be again. Please register and vote (intelligently)!

Cult of Personality

Why does conservative talk radio seem to be hours of one guy spewing his beliefs and an army of listened calling up to tell the host how great he is? During lunch I tuned into a bit of Rush and two callers called in to saw my day sucks when I am not listening to you. You are everything to me and stuff like that. Their was nothing thought provoking, there were no other angles shown or discussed. Other than the fact that I usually hate what they say, let alone, how they say it. I just can't imagine listening to hours of that hero worship crap. Long live the free thinkers!

Time Waster of the Day.

No Phishing!

Phish has broken up.   A sad day in the history of music.   "When you're there I sleep lengthwise and when you're gone I sleep diagonal in my bed."

Stress & Procrastination

Who knew that all of my years of procrastination was creating a stressful life? Last Friday I went to my masseuse and she told me that I have the fine distinction of being her most stressed client! Which nobody believes b/c I am pretty even-keeled and calm. Let alone that I don't have alot to be stressed about. Then my Health tip a day calendar tell me that procrastination is a source of stress. Which would help make sense of everything b/c I am the king of procrastination. So, starting today, loyal reader, I am going to start working on this problem. We'll see how far I get. I've already mentioned it to my girlfriend, so maybe with ya'll's support I can move to the path of accomplishment without procrastination.

Cheeseball Joke of the Day

A Doctor called his patient with test results and says; "I'm afraid I have god news and bad news." The patient says; "I'd rather hear the good news first." The doctor says; "You have 24hrs to live. The patient: "That's the good news? What's the bad?" The doctor: "I wasn't able to reach you yesterday."

A New Segment...

Today begins the first of my new series... What's in my CD or DVD player? Right now I'm at work and have decided to listen to a little Cassandra Wilson. Cassandra is one of my favorite artists. She's roots, she's experimental and she's expressive. She's also very sexy, just a beautiful woman with a beautiful voice and beau coup style. I've bought every record she's released since New Moon Daughter  but I just bought her first Blue Note record Blue Light Till Dawn and that's what I'm listening to now. What I like about Cassandra's style is that she takes her time in the songs. She lets the words, phrases and motifs form around her and through her. Another thing is she's not scared to do it her way, a different way, like "Children of the Night" with its experimental rootsiness or the lazy vocals of "Redbone" blending with the single-minded, multi-ethnic perc and out-of-pocket gospel lap-steel. She is mes

Appliance delivery/repairmen, etc... What's the deal with the 4 hour window? I know things can be unpredictable but come on you can't narrow it down any better than that? Yesterday I had Sears bring over a new dryer, actually Sears didn't deliver it was an indi contractor. OK, 1st let me say that I got this thing from the Sears Outlet. Now, is it just me or should outlet stores be substantially cheaper than regular price? I mean, this dryer was $10 cheaper at the outlet than it would have been from Sears. I don't get it. Anyway, back to the delivery. They call at 8:30am and say they will be at my place b/t 3 & 7pm. I decide to skip work. I go back to sleep for awhile, go visit my girlfriend at her office and play some video games - have you played Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow? - and cleaned. 3pm shows up and I started watching the front door. Almost 4 hours later they show up! 6:45pm and I am the 2nd to the last delivery! I will say they these guy

FW: Formatting and feng shui

That last email didn't format correctly so I figure I'll send another post and see what happens. I saw Kill Bill 2 (http://killbill.movies.go.com/) this weekend and, WOW!, what a movie. Quentin continues to be my filmmaking hero. He makes his movie the way I would imagine I would make mine. He throws in an amazing array and quantity of references to other movies. From the black & white beginning to Pei Mai, not to mention the Sam Jackson cameo. I love that stuff! It was so much fun, part 2 was far more poetic than part 1 and that was nice.

Public Library

Don't you just love the public library http://www.library.nashville.org/ (Nashville Public Library). I'm fortunate enough to be equidistant between two and they both have restaurants nearby so I can go on my lunch break, get some books and eat. My thing recently has been Feng Shui. Last Summer I moved back into the house where I grew up and as I try to shake the childhood image of the house from my head I decided to use Feng Shui for ideas and concepts. It's difficult. My parents weren't much on rearranging things so the house still looks like it did when I was a kid. I now have to reorient things mentally so I can actually redecorate. Well, it's library time.

Happy Mother's Day.

I guess it's almost over now but I hope all the Mothers were treated to something special today and I hope we all remember our mothers every other day of the year. I took my Godmother out for dinner and she bought a new computer. Pretty cool when a great Grandmother gets a new computer. It was a good day.
It's amazing how cheap PCs have gotten! I'm helping my Godmother buy one and as I look... you can get a 2.8gHz with 256m RAM for $400. It's unreal.
It's a beautiful Spring day in Music City. You know, last week when I thought of doing a blog I thought I would have something to say but now I'm not so sure...
