Elegance of Escovedo

I bought this last week but I haven't gotten to listen. I've seen several of the incarnations of Al's bands and it is quite amazing to see how he can rearrange these songs - for a rock band, a string 5tet and whatever else he puts together - and gets the same emotional strength. Nothing is ever lost in translation.

It's a graceful, elegant record, hinged on a delicacy that belies the intensity frequently just below the surface.
